From the back cover:
"Temptation is timeless!
Lottery-winning cameraman Zach Haas has always wanted to make movies. And with his newfound wealth, his dream is finally within reach. Now all he needs is the inspiration. Yet when he meets actress Kelly Castelle, he’s more than inspired – he’s aching with desire…but she’s ten years older than him!
Nevertheless, Kelly is more than happy to embark on a wild, reckless fling with the sexy younger man. However, as their smouldering affair deepens, could the passion they share be powerful enough to stand the test of time?"
This is another purchase from the kindle store sale. I have read quite a few of Kate Hoffmann's Blaze's in the past and I like her style so I thought I would give this one a go.
The heroine Kelly is a struggling actress and arrives on the set of a TV show to film a segment on younger man/older woman relationships. She catches the eye of cameraman Zach, the hero, whom finds Kelly totally alluring. She gorgeous and also modest, but the fact that it's life imitating art with Zach being ten years younger makes Kelly wary. Knowing that, perhaps, she is a little too old for such casual relationships doesn't stop Kelly from responding to Zach's attentions. Zach starts out not wanting anything serious, not only does he have a lot going on in his life at the moment but he has been burned by love in the past. However, their hot and heavy fling quickly turns into much more but neither of them know if they are read to give up the things they would need to in order to be together, and their age difference is sometimes too obvious to ignore.
I was expecting a bit more from this book, but it ended up feeling a little flat. I was intrigued by the idea of the age difference relationship, and in general I have nothing against older woman/younger man ones but in this book the hero at twenty-four is just far too young to be believable (in my opinion anyway).
As expected from a Blaze there is plenty of steaminess, but after the first love scene everything, including the plot, seemed to lose it's way and it dragged towards to the end.
Overall not a bad story, but not quite all it could be.

From the back cover:
"Tessa Rose is intoxicating to bodyguard Jonas Berringer. But not simply because she has an intimate knowledge of aphrodisiac scents. Nor is it because she's forbidden fruit: a client, the boss's daughter. Though both things help....
But Jonas thinks he has nothing to offer Tessa, not after a moment of lost focus costs Jonas his sight. But when Tessa and Jonas find themselves alone during a blackout, they discover endless temptations in the dark. Until morning, they'll just have to trust their other, heightened senses to see them through...."
I have had this book on my recommendations list for ages, but it has not yet been released over here. Samantha Hunter very kindly sent me over a copy - Thank you so much, Sam!
The hero Jonas is still struggling to come to terms with his recent, albeit temporary, blindness when he is visited by the heroine Tessa. Jonas was injured whilst employed to protect Tessa, but their mutual attraction for one another caused him to be distracted on the job. He blames himself for everything, but is also angry at Tessa as he believes she was using him. Tessa wants to make it up to him but Jonas refuses, and this hurts her as she really thought that they had something together. When a storm hits causing a blackout over the city, Jonas has to call Tessa for help - and they end up helping each other as well as finally acting on the passion between them. They each know there is more between them than just lust, but Jonas thinks he has nothing to offer Tessa, as well as the fact that he knows she will feel betrayed when she finds out the real reason he is there.
Once I got over my initial shock that the characters were already having sex only 10 pages in (don't worry, it was a dream! Even Blaze's don't move that fast!), I really enjoyed this book. I was intrigued by the idea of the blind hero, and thought this was executed really well - the descriptions of the hero's other heightened senses were very evocative. I especially want some of that honey dust now - for my skin, not for anything else, you understand! I'll be honest and say that I could have done without the hero's recovery happening that very same night - it is a little bit cheesy.
As expected there is a lot of sizzle in this book, and it works! Although, the scene in the subway car was a little, er, icky and I found it a bit uncomfortable to read.
The story is fast paced with a nice blend of fun, emotion, and angst. Well worth a read.

From the back cover:
"A dull job, boring relationships.
Life was a yawn when Lucy Christie decided to hit the road with her best friend. But she didn't know just how much her dream vacation - a drive down Route 66 in search of no-questions-asked, guilt-free sexual encounters - would shake things up. Her first conquest was Joshua, a cowboy with fancy boots and hips made for sin, a man who filled in every gap in her previously limited sexual education.
In fact, he was so good, Lucy regretted having to give him up. But when she tried moving on to the next 'drive-by seduction' her demanding lover tagged along...intent on seducing her stop after stop!"
I saw this cheap in the Kindle store and really liked the sound of the blurb!
The heroine Lucy and her friend set out on a road trip in order to get away from their boring lives and have a bit of fun. Although Lucy's idea of fun means a meticulously planned out trip. One thing she was not counting on though is meeting sexy-as-sin Joshua, the hero. Joshua is taking some time out after a few disappointments in his life recently. As soon as he sees Lucy he is captivated by her and when they, accidentally, meet up at the same motel later they end up having a very passionate encounter. Joshua is surprised by how much he is drawn to Lucy, and convinces her to spend more time with him over the course of his trip. But he finds it frustrating that Lucy seems unwilling to open up to him. Once Lucy let's go of her need for planning she realises she actually likes the freedom. Fearing another crappy relationship she tries really hard to keep her feelings for Joshua on a strictly fun basis.
I enjoyed this book, and the idea of the road trip part is great fun. The blurb is a little misleading though, so it didn't turn out quite as I expected. I liked both characters; they were nicely written and had some great chemistry. The love scenes lacked emotion and felt a little gratuitous at times, but they were very steamy - as you would expect from a Blaze.
There is a subplot of the heroine's friend meeting someone, which I found a little boring and it took much needed focus away from the main relationship.
I did like the blend of sadness and fun the author used in this book, and it is an enjoyable read.

"Marketing exec Gabrielle Flannery isn't what you'd call the outdoorsy type. But after an embarrassing incident with a potted plant leaves Gabrielle revealing more leg than a Thanksgiving turkey, she decides it's time to reassert herself. Even if it means going head-to-head with marketing golden boy and the office Hottie McHot, Dell Kingston, over an outdoor gear account...
That is, until Gabrielle and Dell find themselves competing against each other for the account at a wilderness survival weekend. Since he's in touch with the great outdoors, Dell figures that naturally extends to Gabrielle and those sexy legs of hers.... But Gabrielle has a few tricks up her sleeve. And nothing stimulates a sexual appetite like a little fresh air, a tiny little tent and a whole lot of libido!"
This is one I have had on my shelf for ages, I really like the cover and sound of this one.
The heroine Gabby is tired of not being taken seriously at the advertising firm she works for, and decides to make herself more assertive and go after an account she is desperate for. The hero Dell, a somewhat golden boy of the firm, also wants the account. Their boss decides that they should compete against each other at the wilderness survival weekend run by the company whose account the want. Dell knows that small, delicate Gabby doesn't stand a chance especially against him as he spends most of his free time doing this kind of outdoor activities. Yet there is something about Gabby that he finds totally alluring, and makes him feel a little protective. As the competition gets underway it seems Dell's overconfidence made him underestimate Gabby and she does surprisingly well. Gabby knows she is pushing herself to the limit but desperately wants to prove herself. What surprises both of them is how close they become and the undeniable attraction between them. Dell realises he wants more with Gabby but it is either the account or her, as neither of them want to give in.
This is a brilliantly entertaining book, with and interesting and fun plot. The situations the hero and heroine are involved in are wonderfully written, I was totally absorbed. The heroine is the star of this book; I loved her quirks and her will to push herself to get what she wants. The hero constantly getting knocked down from his arrogance and overconfidence is hilarious and so very entertaining to read.
I enjoyed this book up until the last quarter, and then it just lost it's way. The hero stabs the heroine in the back in such an awful way and then makes it seem like he is being a saint when he decides to step aside, it just ends up sounding incredibly patronising. I desperately wanted to heroine to fight back, but disappointingly, she didn't
A fantastic book, up to a point...

"Actress Ivy James is finally getting her big break!
She's been cast as the lead in a steamy blockbuster movie, a sizzling flick based on war hero Garrett Stokes's military— and sexual—experiences behind enemy lines. In the role, Ivy will be required to shoot a lot of on-screen sex scenes with her costar, one of Hollywood's top hunks. Unfortunately for Ivy, the only guy who can get her motor running is the technical consultant—Garrett himself!
Garrett has been secretly in love with Ivy for years. In fact, it was only his infatuation with her that got him through all those months in a military hospital. So when Ivy asks him to show her just how good the sex was, how can he resist? But will she still want to share his bed when she learns that Garrett's lust for her was the only reason she got the part?"
I have a bunch of books on my kindle that I bought during the summer and never got round to reading... oops! I'm going to try and work my way through them instead of buying more in the very tempting kindle sale!
The heroine Ivy arrives in Mexico to start filming a movie role of her dreams, although her arrive is less than pleasant after having to get on a deathtrap of a bus out to the middle of nowhere, and then her luggage goes missing. Waiting for her at the location is the hero Garrett, an ex special ops agent whose escape from a South American drug cartel is the subject of the movie. Garrett has been waiting for his chance to meet Ivy ever since he first saw her meet her injured brother in a military hospital where Garrett was recovering. Although the event never actually happened, Ivy is to play the supposed love interest of Garrett's character. When she struggles to get her character right she asks for Garrett's help. Their attraction to one another is fierce and pretty soon they give into their desire. However, Ivy still has not idea about Garrett's love for her and the role he playing in her getting the part.
I really enjoyed this book, it literally ticked all the boxes of what makes a good Blaze. I thought the hero and heroine bounced of each other well; their interactions are entertaining and the passion is blazing (no pun intended)! I simply adored the hero, sigh, he was so open and giving to the heroine, and his love for her felt totally genuine. The plot is fantastic, so well thought out and interesting. The start reminded me of Romancing the Stone and had me laughing!
This book manages to be both hot and tender at the same time, and I loved it!

"Can sex be better the second time around?
Ainsley Rutherford is about to find out. For the past eight years, she’s desperately tried to forget her first love – sexy, reckless Luke Collier. Of course, working at his family’s orchard isn’t the best way to get over him. She knew he’d show up sooner or later. Still, who’d have guessed she’d fall so willingly into his arms – and his bed – again?

The chemistry between them is as explosive as ever and the sex… Wow! In fact, he’s even starting to rethink his future, giving Ainsley a prominent place in it. Can they really forget the past and make a brand-new start? It’s a tempting thought.
Until he discovers what Ainsley was hiding all those years…"
It has been a while since I have read a Blaze, this one has been on my shelf for a while so I thought I would give it a go.
The heroine Ainsley is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the hero Luke for his grandfather's funeral. Eight years ago Ainsley and Luke had been in love as teenagers, however their relationship ended when Luke left without word, leaving Ainsley broken hearted, abandoned by her father, and pregnant. Ainsley had married Luke's twin brother for security, which Luke was not happy about when he heart, however an accident resulted in the death of Ainsley's husband and the loss of the baby. Ainsley has never truly gotten over this loss but has managed to build a good life for herself managing her in-law's Orchard, now owned by Luke. She knows Luke coming home will mean the end of this, not only will Luke sell the only happy home she has ever known but him being back will bring back all the painful memories. As well as the fierce attraction that still burns between them. Luke know he hurt Ainsley by leaving, and he is devastated to learn the truth of the situation he left her in. He tries to stay away not wanting to hurt her again, but he can't stop thinking about her. Their reconnection is hot and heavy, but loaded with pain that is just waiting to explode.
I was surprised by the level of angst and emotion in this book, for a Blaze I mean. But it really created a very intense mood, making the moments of passion incredibly poignant. The love scenes manage to be blazing hot, as you would want and expect from a Blaze, but also full of emotion and not at all gratuitous. The backstory is introduced well and helps create depth of feeling between the hero and heroine.
If I have one complaint, it is that while the hero full admits to acting awful in the past he never really apologies for it, and that kinda didn't sit well for me.
But, this is a nice read; emotional and hot! Just what I needed on a cold December day!

"How does an indecent proposal fit into a simple business plan?
Anthony DiLeo is about to find out. When he approaches Tess Hardaway with an idea to benefit both their companies, she counters with an unexpected—and thoroughly steamy—suggestion. A proposition that involves the two of them getting to know each other in the most intimate way!"
I have the Special Releases omnibus, as above, on my kindle and this is the second book. This is an OK read.
The heroine Tess is the daughter of a well known and successful car dealership owner, and she is also a classic car enthusiast. During a classic car convention her company is sponsoring she meets the hero Anthony. Anthony presents a business proposal to her, something he has been working on for many months and is proud of. He finds Tess alluring but knows he has to keep everything professional. Tess is also attracted to Anthony as well as disappointed that yet another man is using her to get to her father. Tess has also been dealing with letter threats against her family as well as a family friend who won't take no for an answer. As part of the convention there is a cross country rally and when her partner pulls out she asks Anthony to come along with her. He agrees and they being a hot and heavy affair, which quickly turns into something deeper. But along with their new feelings they also have to deal with the threat that seems to be following them.
Although this is quite a fun read at the beginning, I do feel it changed it's direction about halfway through that didn't really work. This is one half romantic comedy and one half action movie, it felt a little forced. I liked the hero and heroine as characters and the dialogue between them is really spunky and enjoyable. The passion is also extra-steamy, as expected from a Blaze.
I'm not really into cars and I felt there was too much detail about cars, and engines, and races, and paint work etc! To be honest, I found it rather boring but that's just me.
Overall this is an OK read.

"Gemma Jacobs needs a life--a sex life. Newly divorced, she vows that this time it's going to be all about her! So when she receives a letter containing an assignment she did for a sex ed course in college, she takes it as a sign.
In the letter, Gemma had confessed her most secret sexual fantasies...as well as her most forbidden sexual vice.
She liked to be watched. By strangers.
And she still does.
Lucky for Gemma, her sexy new neighbor, Chev Martinez, is totally enjoying the show. But how well will her voyeuristic little game hold up when Chev decides to venture behind the scenes?"
I have had this book on my Kindle for a while and thought I would give it a go.
The heroine Gemma is very recently divorced and feels completely lost. She had dedicated her life to her political aspiring husband and is struggling to be anything other than sad. Then she receives a package including a 'letter to your future self' from a college project 10 years ago. The letter discusses her sexual fantasies and Gemma's is/was that she liked to be watched. She is shocked to read it as she had buried that side of herself when she met her husband, but now she realises that she lost a big part of herself. Excited by her rediscovered sensual side she also notices her sexy new neighbour, the hero Chev. Chev is renovating the house next door and has also noticed Gemma on more than one occasion, he also sees Gemma's sadness and wants to help her feel good again. When he, completely by accident, sees Gemma undressing he is more than intrigued, especially by the fact the she knew he was watching. Along with the occasional 'shows' he and Gemma also become friends and grow very close. But with Gemma's new found sexual freedom and Chev's lack of interest in commitment there doesn't seem to be any future for them.
I'm a fan of Blaze books and the more daring or forward subject matters they deal with. However this one just didn't really live up to expectation for me.
I liked the 'letter to your future self' about sexual fantasies idea, as well as how it enabled Gemma to reclaim her life. But I felt the execution of Gemma's exhibitionism fantasies felt a little flat. I also found Chev's character a little lacking, I would have liked to have learned a little more about him, when we had his point of view it was mostly about Gemma.
This is an OK book, quick and enjoyable but lacked that spark that makes a really great Blaze book.

"Power outages happen, and you have to be somewhere—like in an empty store—with your ex. Who is still irresistible. And hot. And who knows how to make the most out of a dark situation….
Checklist for: Larissa Zahn
☑ Food
☑ Water
☑ First aid kit (With condoms. Be prepared. Very, very prepared.)
☑ Someone you're still overwhelmingly into (Jason Cantrell, I'm looking at you.)
☑ Plenty of time in the dark (Read: hot nookie. Lots of it.)
❑ The ability to walk away without regrets in the morning…. (Uh-oh!)"
This is one of the books I bought while in NYC, I'm not sure if it has been (or will be) released in the UK. I like the Blaze line, as they are forward and contemporary, this book is both those things and enjoyable.
The heroine Larissa is about to take her career one step further with the hope of winning an empty store in a brand new hotel. After she has given her pitch she is left trapped in the hotel due to a city wide blackout with the hero Jason. Jason is also hoping to win the empty store as a base for his own business. Jason and Larissa were engaged a few years back, which ended badly, very badly, after Jason was led to believe Larissa cheated on him. Larissa was deeply hurt that Jason could accuse her of this and ended the relationship without explaining it, since she has reinvented her career and herself, but still hasn't completely gotten over Jason. While they are trapped together all their past issues and chemistry bubble up, resulting in passionate arguments and even more passionate sex. However they both know it can only for for one night as they both want to be able to move on.
I really liked the idea of the story; throwing together two ex's in an inescapable situation and seeing how they handle it. If the two characters had parted amicably when they broke up previously and just had a night of steamy 'ex sex' then this would not have been as interesting. Neither of the two characters had closure with their relations, so what resulted was some intense and emotional scenes. The sex was every bit as steamy as you would expect from a good Blaze, there was even chocolate body paint, need I say more...!
The author managed to write some great character growth, what I particularly liked is how they dealt with both the issues that drove them apart as well as their own personal issues. I will say that their almost constant arguing did get a bit tedious after a while, although it is very believable to the situation.
An enjoyable read.

"Under the covers... and unexpected! When Melanie Hawthorne sneaks into her new man's bed one very dark night, she gets quite a few surprises. Great sex - toe curling in fact. Intense emotion and real feelings - even better. But it's all with the wrong man! Waking up along, Edgar Raymond can't believe the hot night he just had. Seduced by his fantasy woman, Melanie...how cool is that? He's totally captivated - until he realises she mistook him for his bad-boy brother!"
This is a follow on book from Isabel Sharpe's previous book 'While She Was Sleeping...', which I have previously read. My last review on a Blaze book I mentioned that that the covers of this series I sometimes find a little off putting, however I wanted to mention that the cover picture of this one is one of the made-over covers that I had previously discussed in my review of Melanie Milburne's 'The Wedding Charade'. The new blaze covers are much better, and more subtle, which I find more appealing! As you may have guessed, I am a big fan of book covers, I find them fascinating! I have a post I'm in the process of writing, which is all about this love of covers, so watch this space if you are interested! OK, so moving on to this book! This is the story of Melanie, she is the kind of girl that just cant help but fall for the wrong guys, the bad boys! She has been good friends with the male character Edgar for some time. Edgar has been in love with her for ages and really struggles watching her waste her time on the going nowhere liaisons she keeps having, but he is too shy to let her know how he feels.
Melanie's latest infatuation is for Edgar's bad boy musician brother, oddly nicknamed Stoner, she sneaks into his bed one night and they have great sex, only she doesn't realise that its actually Edgar's bed. The next day Edgar is over the moon at what he thinks is Melanie finally reaching out to him, only to be heartbroken when he realises that she thought she was making love with his brother. As the story progresses, Edgar convinces Melanie to give him a chance by taking her on dates with the plan to woe her and show her exactly what she is missing, all the while Melanie is trying to work through her issues with men and figure out just what she feels for Edgar.
The story is also mixed with Melanie's mother's tale of returning home after drug rehab trying to establish a relationship with her daughters, who she abandoned years ago, and also trying to figure out where to go with her life now. I really liked Melanie and Edgar's story, at first I found Edgar really dull, he didn't seem to have anything going for him, but over the course of the story Isabel Sharpe, very cleverly, revealed more and more interesting layers of Edgar and he was a much more like able character. He is by no means your Alpha-male and for him that really works. I did find myself getting annoyed with Melanie and her issues, yes we all know that sometimes the allure of the bad boy can be irresistible, but to keep falling for bad boy after bad boy, who she admits treat her like crap afterwards, is a little self degrading. I think their developing relationship was written very well and with a satisfying ending. Oh, by the way, the passion in the book is really hot! Xx

From the back cover:
"Soaring heat, deepening darkness, unstoppable desire!
On the run from a man who wants her dead, Hannah's learned to keep to herself. She's always felt safe in the dark, the perfect hiding place.
Then she met Ward Cassidy.
Being around her sexy co-worker has awakened a need she'd forgotten. But Hannah's afraid to get too close to this deeply gorgeous FBI agent - until a heatwave engulfs the city and a blackout traps the pair for one long, lustful night.
Now determined Ward won't let their attraction die and Hannah has nowhere left to hide."
So, I started my book challenge with a blaze novel, I really like the blaze series it's one of my favourites (second only to the Modern series!). I always find the books take a very modern perspective of relationships, think Sex and the City, yes I know they contain quite heavy sex scenes that sometimes make even me cringe (that's you 'His Christmas Fantasy' by Jennifer LeBrecque!), but they are enjoyable reads.
I borrowed this book from my local library, I initially picked the book as I thought the cover was good. I know, I know, never judge a book by its cover, blah blah blah! Usually the blaze covers are the only thing that I find a bit off putting about the series! But this cover looked both sexy and classy, oh what a difference a black and white photo makes, haha!
Anyway, enough of the cover, the story itself I found enjoyable, the premise was good as well!
The setting was good, the descriptions of the humidity of the area were really detailed, I could really immerse myself and feel the tension surrounding the characters.
The female character, Hannah, is in the Witness Protection program after testifying against her former lover who was a mob boss. The male character, Ward, is an undercover FBI agent looking for someone stealing government money. As the story progresses, Ward is convinced Hannah is the criminal he's looking for, yet he is deeply attracted to her. They get trapped together in a lift after the powercut where they become closer, Hannah is nervous as about this as she has not been able to become close to anyone since entering WP. When afore mentioned mob boss/former lover escapes from prison, Hannah is transferred to a safe house, with a suspicious Ward following.
Compared to other blaze books I have read, the sex scenes were definitely more mild, but they were certainly steamy and I found the level of passion about right!
The main problems I had with this story is that it does not contain as much 'action' as I thought there would be, when Hannah is discovered by her former lover/mob boss/escaped prisoner the situation is wrapped up in a couple of pages, leaving it a bit of a let down, especially since 1 page late the book is finished. Also Ward is very hard to understand, he spends his time moaning about not wanting commitment or relationships etc, yet he gets annoyed with Hannah for not spending the night with him and saying she is using him, seems a little hypocritical to me!
Overall I enjoyed this book, but unfortunately it didn't live up to it's synopsis.
