Saturday afternoon ...

It seems at the moment that my diet is taking over my life and it's all I can think about, and talk about. But since it is a big change to my life I guess that's normal. Today so far has been tough.

For so long my weekends have been spent spending time exclusively with my husband and a part of that is cooking a nice meal, plus snacking during the day! So needless to say the fact that we are on diets has been tough!

My husband is also trying to cut down his food, he has been eating 2 bowls of cereal a day with a meal in between, which for him is a big cut! But again, he is finding today difficult and temperaments are up and down in the house today!

Apart from the food craving, today has been quite nice, we have managed to go for a nice 2 mile walk, go to the library, he went out on his skateboard for a couple of hours this morning as well.

Tonight we plan to sit down and watch some movies, and work our way through our sky+ planner!

Let's hope we get through the weekend okay!

Weekly goings on ...

This is the first in what I hope to be weekly updates on anything that I have been doing, stuff I have planned, thoughts etc etc.

I have to admit I am a long time blog wannabe writer, I have tried many different types in the past and never managed to keep up to date with them. I'm hoping with this one that if I schedule a weekly posting in my diary then, hopefully, I should be able to keep with it!

One of the main things that has kept me occupied this week is my diet, but I'm not going to type anything else about that as I have done separate posts for that.

Last weekend my husband and I booked a holiday to New York City at the end of April, and that is pretty exciting! This will be our fourth trip to NYC and it's still just as exciting. I'm currently planning on things to do while we are there, this time we hope to spend a lot of time going to the many museums and galleries in NYC, we are self confessed culture freaks! Lol! We got married in NYC in May last year, so this trip is for our anniversary! Exciting stuff.

I'm currently reading quite a few books, I'm still enjoying the light hearted romance novel variety! There are so many people who disregard them but to be honest, they are solidly structured and well written books that can take you away from life for a good couple of hours, and that's what a book should be about right!?

That's about everything for the moment.

Weight and me...

The last few years of my life I have spent a lot of time focusing on learning to be OK with 'me'. One of the main things about me is that, unfortunatly, I am overweight.

As we all know society has many different attitudes towards people of the, uh, large variety. but even that has seen somewhat of a flip reverse in the last couple of years. It's gone from "size zero only" to "curvy is good".

My opinion is somewhat on the fence regarding weight, which is strange considering I have opinions on most other things! I am one of those people who thinks people should be who they want to be, thin or fat, who cares right? Well, wrong apparently. Too many people have prejudices against overweight people and it just isn't right, making other people feel bad about themselves is part if human nature that, quite frankly, is disgusting.

I say hurrah to those out there who dare to be who they are!

But, and there is always a but, there is no doubt that obesity is bad for us. In the UK it is estimated that by the year 2050 60% of men, 50% of women and 25% of children will be obese, that's quite shocking. It's time for a change, yes continue to embrace curves, but not at the expense of your health!

So that is why I am on a diet from today.

I will post with updates and weigh ins.
